Requirements
Academic requirements (reflecting the academic demands of the Archdiocese of New York, The New York State Department of Education and St. Raymond High School for Boys) are:
- English: 4 years, 4 credits
- Mathematics: 4 years, 4 credits
- Religious Studies: 4 years, 4 credits
- Science: 3 years, 3 credits
- Social Studies: 4 years, 4 credits
- World Languages (Italian or Spanish): 3 years, 3 credits
- Occupational Education: 2 years, 3 credits (alternate sequence)
- Physical Education: 4 years, 2 credits
- Art: 1 year, 1 credit
- Health: 1 semester, .5 credit
- Computer Science: 1 semester, .5 credit
In order to graduate from a high school in the State of New York, a student must also fulfill existing Department of Education testing requirements. Currently, students in grades 9-12 must receive at least 55% on the English, Global History and Geography, United States History and Government, Math A, and either Earth Science or Living Environment (biology) Regents to qualify for a local diploma.
In order to graduate with a Regents diploma a student must pass each of the aforementioned regents with at least a 65% as well as the following: Math B, the Comprehensive Examination in a language other than English and for those who did not pass both Earth Science and Living Environment, a second science Regents (Chemistry or Physics). A student who fails to meet the basic State Education Department requirements listed, even if he passes the course for the year, will have to attend a six week summer session to remain eligible for a New York State high school diploma.
