Vincent Reese, FSC, School Social Worker, Ext. 202 Mr. Jimmie Sturgis, Counselor/College Guidance, Ext. 303     The purpose of the Guidance Department is to assist students in assuming appropriate responsibility for their own growth and development.  A wide range of services is provided to help the student know and understand himself, and to put this knowledge to use in making plans and decisions for the future.  These include tutorial programs for those who need academic help and counseling when needed.  The counselors schedule individual meetings with students on a periodic basis to discuss the student's growth, academics, and for the upperclassmen, career and college information.   Typically, the students have the same guidance counselor for grades 9 and 10 and then a new counselor for grades 11 and 12.  A full time school social worker is available upon request.  The school is associated with Columbia University's preparation program for school psychologists as well.   SAT CODE:  334011.
