Whether he’s in the classroom or on the baseball diamond, Luis Castillo doesn’t let up. He finds his motivation in being a role model for his younger brother.
“Everything I do, he tries to do,” says Castillo, News 12 The Bronx’s Student of the Week.
The St. Raymond’s High School junior maintains a 95 average and is a finalist for a select FBI internship this summer. His principal, Brother Daniel Gardner, says Castillo is just a good guy.
“If someone needs something, he’s the one to help,” says Gardner. Castillo also excels at baseball and track and field.
“With his academics, he’ll get into a great school,” said assistant baseball coach Marc Deluca. “I’m expecting we’ll hear in five or six years [that] he’s doing well for himself.” Castillo says he’s starting to look at colleges close to home like Fordham University and John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He also likes Connecticut and is looking there as well.
